About the Mountain Shag Club

The Mountain Shag Club, Inc. was formed in November 1988 as a non-profit corporation and is a member of the Association of Carolina Shag Clubs.

In 2020, we had 153 members from Western North Carolina, Tennessee, South Carolina and the surrounding areas.  The effects of COVID-19 shut down our dancing and Club activities during most of 2020. In 2023, we continued to add new members with our total membership reaching 184.  We are now accepting membership applications for 2024 with the annual due’s payments of $25.00 per person.

In 2023, MSC had 185 members.

On November 14, 2023, we began dancing at Chop House 22 Woodfin Street Asheville 28801.  We hold our weekly dances there each Tuesday evening, 6:30 – 9:00 p.m.  People often arrive early to enjoy food from the restaurant.

In addition to our weekly dances, we often hold special parties and dances at other locations in the Asheville-Hendersonville area.

We have four DJs who provide the music, with each DJ normally playing one Tuesday per month.   Below are our DJs:

L to R:  Bobby Vaughn, Terry Hopper, Buck Crumpton and Dave Hadden.
